The joys of taking the A train
Reprinted from the NY Daily News “Voice of the People” (1/25/10)
My colleague who rides the A train to work every morning repeated a wonderful experience to me.
He said that on Jan. 20 at 9:10 a.m., he boarded at 181st St. in Manhattan. To his surprise, a female conductor with the most melodious of voices woke him up by greeting everyone with the following:
“Good morning, passengers, you are my first passengers for the day. I am so happy that you are riding with me. I really do appreciate you riding with me this morning, you really make my day.
“Remember, always be careful when exiting and entering the train. Have a wonderful day and may God bless you all.”
She then ended with “You are the wind beneath my wings.”
This conductor should be commended. She really made my friend’s day. What a rare and positive person. She is exactly what’s needed in New York right now.
She should be training other conductors.
